Accountant – General Accounting & Payroll

Location: Remote| Sri Lanka  |  Salary: LKR 100,000 – 150,000

We are a well-established Australian-based recruitment company undergoing rapid expansion by accommodating professionals in key positions to support overall operations.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant with strong payroll knowledge and a solid grounding in general accounting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both payroll compliance and core accounting functions, contributing to smooth financial operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with legislation, awards, EBAs, superannuation, and taxation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records; process leave, overtime, and termination calculations.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journals, general ledger accounts, and month-end payroll reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, payment runs, and debtor follow-up.
  • Assist with cashflow monitoring, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external auditors, and government agencies as required.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA/CA qualified or working towards highly regarded).
  • Proven experience in both payroll processing and general accounting functions.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation.
  • Experience with accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and cashflow management.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems (Xero, MYOB, SAP, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage and analyse large datasets.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
